On July 23, the Ukrainian Association of Furniture Manufacturers held its annual LEAN tour at the Modern Expo production facility in Lutsk. The participants — business owners, production directors, and operations managers from the furniture industry — had the opportunity to see from the inside how one of Ukraine’s strongest manufacturing companies operates.

The day began with a conversation with Ihor Mordas about Modern Expo’s LEAN journey: where the company started, which mistakes proved the most costly, and which decisions ultimately became the foundation of the system. During the production tour, participants saw how flow production, 5S, SMED, Kanban, and TPM work in practice — not as separate tools, but as an integrated management system.

In the second half of the day, the group worked in two formats: a hands-on case study on scooter assembly, where participants built the production flow themselves and learned to identify waste in the process, and a training session with Modern Expo’s Chief Operating Officer Liliia Yovyk on integrating Lean tools into the company’s management system.

The day concluded with an open dialogue with the Modern Expo team and networking among members of the manufacturing community.
