Opening of the Furniture of Ukraine educational and research hubs!

On December 18, the opening of the Furniture of Ukraine educational and research hub took place at the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine. The hub is designed as a space where education gains practical value and academic training meets the real needs of the furniture industry.

During the opening event, the capabilities of the hub were presented, the equipment was demonstrated, and discussions were held on how modern technologies and practice-oriented training can better respond to the needs of the sector. The event fostered a meaningful dialogue between the university, business representatives, and the professional community.

The equipment for the Hub was manufactured by Dominant CNC.

We sincerely thank the team of the Department of Wood Product Technologies and Design of NULES of Ukraine for the warm welcome, openness to dialogue, and readiness for active cooperation. Such partnerships help shape a new quality of professional training for the furniture industry.

On December 19, the Furniture of Ukraine educational and research hub officially started operating in Kharkiv at the premises of the State Biotechnological University. The hub was created as a space for practical learning, testing solutions, and strengthening cooperation between education and the furniture business.

The opening program included an introduction to the hub’s opportunities, equipment demonstrations, and discussions on future formats of collaboration between the university and the industry. It was important for us to hear the university’s perspective and to see genuine interest in developing this direction.

The equipment for the Hub was also manufactured by Dominant CNC.

We thank the team of the State Biotechnological University for the warm reception, active participation, and openness to partnership. Such meetings confirm that joint efforts between education and business deliver tangible results.

Currently, the United Nations Development Programme is working on a cooperation model that will allow students, micro and small enterprises, as well as participants of the Furniture Maker School to book time in the hub’s classrooms, use the equipment, learn, and develop their own projects.

The sustainable business hubs were opened by the Ukrainian Association of Furniture Manufacturers with the support of the United Nations Development Programme in Ukraine and funding from the Government of Japan, within the project “Transformational Recovery for People’s Safety in Ukraine”.
