{"id":14183,"date":"2024-07-24T14:33:50","date_gmt":"2024-07-24T11:33:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uafm.com.ua\/?p=14183"},"modified":"2024-07-24T14:33:50","modified_gmt":"2024-07-24T11:33:50","slug":"konferentsiya-kar-yerni-shlyahy-do-pratsevlashtuvannya-podolannya-rozryvu-u-navychkah","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uafm.com.ua\/en\/konferentsiya-kar-yerni-shlyahy-do-pratsevlashtuvannya-podolannya-rozryvu-u-navychkah\/","title":{"rendered":"The conference &#8220;Career Paths to Employment: Bridging the Skills Gap&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words\">On July 23, 2024, a conference titled <strong>&#8220;Career Paths to Employment: Bridging the Skills Gap&#8221;<\/strong> was held in Kyiv, organized by <a href=\"https:\/\/happymonday.ua\">Happy Monday<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coursera.org\">Coursera<\/a> with support from USAID and the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words\">Our Executive Director <strong>Valentyna Khystova<\/strong> presented the <a href=\"https:\/\/school.uafm.com.ua\">&#8220;Furniture Maker School&#8221;<\/a> project &#8211; a specialized training course for woodworking equipment operators and furniture designers. The project&#8217;s goal is to quickly retrain and recruit specialists for the furniture industry.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words\"><strong>Initial project results:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"-mt-1 list-disc space-y-2 pl-8\">\n<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\">731 applications for training;<\/li>\n<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\">2 completed cohorts with 312 students;<\/li>\n<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\">The final cohort starts in August, expecting over 300 more participants \ud83c\udf89<\/li>\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words\"><strong>The project is actively scaling:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"-mt-1 list-disc space-y-2 pl-8\">\n<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\">Recording educational series for Diia.Education;<\/li>\n<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\">Continuous recruitment of new employees;<\/li>\n<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\">Partnerships with universities to create advanced training and retraining courses.<\/li>\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words\">Valentyna emphasized the importance of proper marketing and uniting efforts within the professional community for successful project implementation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words\">\u2757\ufe0fSpecial attention is given to creating an inclusive environment in the industry. Responding to questions about employing veterans and people with disabilities, Valentyna noted: <em>&#8220;Our furniture makers are already working on adapting their businesses to create an inclusive environment&#8221;.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words\"><strong>Association members are already implementing best global practices from the USA and Europe:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"-mt-1 list-disc space-y-2 pl-8\">\n<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\">Developing specialized training programs;<\/li>\n<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\">Adapting workplaces;<\/li>\n<li class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\">Providing psychological support for employees.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap
