The series of wartime articles we have already posted here show that there is not a single company whose activities have not been negatively affected by the war in one way or another. The clarification “in one way or another” is not accidental, because indeed the wartime stories of our members are similar in general, but each differs in details.<\/p>\n
The current story about D\u041dC Media<\/a> company is convincing evidence of this. Moreover, it opens up a new thematic layer, a new reality caused by the same cursed war: how to successfully manage a company online for a long time. All company activities take place in Ukraine, while its leader and part of the team are outside the country.<\/p>\n The head and owner of D\u041dC Media<\/a> is Victoria Buyanova<\/strong>. To receive proper treatment for a serious illness with the assistance of a Ukrainian-Dutch charitable foundation, she left for this European country, where she still remains: the rehabilitation period continues. Her team – almost all feminist – also found themselves abroad with the beginning of the war. But the company continues its activities. Mass events for designers, architects, builders, developers are organized and held in various cities of Ukraine, which is what D\u041dC Media<\/a> specializes in.<\/p>\n – A very recent one turned out to be particularly powerful – both in terms of the number of participants and the level of representation,” Mrs. Victoria specifies. “I’m talking about the architectural and construction forum ‘Challenges and Opportunities of Transcarpathia,’ which we organized and conducted in Uzhhorod.<\/em><\/p>\n – Even in peacetime, organizing such large-scale events is quite troublesome, not to mention the current time. And in such a way: online organization of offline events. How does this work in practice?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n – Yes. Organizing and conducting mass events has become more difficult. But in the current complexity, the share of their organization being carried out remotely, without the physical presence of me and my team, is very insignificant. We have all, as they say, become so adept at remote work that we even see advantages in it.<\/em><\/p>\n And in practice, it happens like this. We remotely rent or coordinate the venue, hire hosts, speakers, involve participants – that is, we do all the organizational work, and the part of the team that is in Ukraine conducts the events.<\/em><\/p>\n – Are wartime events different in any way?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n – Both in terms of topics (themes appeared that are caused exclusively by the war: how to work successfully in its conditions, how to relocate business, how to export, how to acquire psychological resilience, etc.), and in spirit. War is always depressive, so the goal of current events is also to reduce the degree of such depression in their participants, so we often invite psychologists. For this purpose, we strengthen the communication component of such events, understanding how great the need for live communication is now for people – both in terms of their professional interests and just in everyday life.<\/em> – What else has the war changed for the worse in the company’s activities?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n – Before the war, we conducted many events in the industrial east of the country. The war has reduced the geography. Now the west of the country has become the most favorable for our work, which, despite the general difficulties for the country, is now showing a surge in business activity. Its economic potential has also been strengthened by the relocation of a significant number of businesses from the most dangerous regions.<\/em><\/p>\n The company is not spared from other current troubles of a country at war. For example, regular power outages delay banking operations.<\/em><\/p>\n – Are you usually the initiators of various events or do people order their organization and conduct from you?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n – Both. Of course, whoever orders the event pays for our work. And when we are the initiators (and this is mainly the organization and conduct of large-scale targeted events), we benefit by selling participation in them to interested parties. We also have grant funding for our work.<\/em><\/p>\n – Conducting events on various topics and for different industries, your company is nevertheless a member of our furniture association. Do you often conduct furniture-related events and what are they, if we specify?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n – We already have enough experience in conducting design competitions. Sometimes furniture companies ask us to organize the opening of their showroom. And for a large Ivano-Frankivsk furniture retailer – the ‘Mens’ shopping center – we have already conducted several events for its popularization.<\/em><\/p>\n The share of furniture events is not so large in the volume of our work now. Before the war, we cooperated quite fruitfully with the furniture association. I saw before, and I see now, great potential in your industry and the Association in particular, which is why I chose membership in it for the company at the time. We remain in the Association in these difficult times. I intend to think through a number of mutually beneficial proposals for you – to activate our relationships.
