Everything that happened last week in Ukraine and the world and that is relevant for the furniture maker, read in our digest:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

1. In Ukraine, quarantine can continue until the beginning of May, but in May Ukraine should start working. At least that is the intention of Prime Minister Denis Shmagal.
\nHe said the government is working to address a number of issues, including:
\n– how Ukrainians will go to work;
\n– what new social standards you need to create;
\n– how to stretch peak hours to avoid a large crowd.
\n\u201cThe turning point, I think, will come after Easter. Then we will begin to make public the plan of measures we have developed to support small and medium-sized businesses. ”<\/p>\n

2. Today we need to start preparing new business models and products for a renewed post-quarantine humanity and a huge consumer market. This is advised by Anatoly Amelin, co-founder and director of economic programs at the Ukrainian Institute for the Future.
\nAny crisis will sooner or later end and the habits will remain, and we can assume that the changes will be as follows:
\n– clothing, as well as new furniture, will be of lesser importance in people’s lives. Requirements for design, quality will be reduced. New trend – no brand. The capitalization of luxury brands will dissolve soon;
\n– everything will be easier to operate remotely. This will affect the equipment purchased for this purpose. The format of the offices and the structure of demand for them will change as well as their placement;
\n– here will be less demand for luxury goods. Quarantine has shown what is true value and what is not;
\n– the share of virtual assets and products will grow. Virtual space will become a place for rest, work and even personal life.<\/p>\n

3. The motivational book of the well-known boxer and lesser-known entrepreneur Volodymyr Klitschko \u201cHow to apply sports strategy in life and business\u201d refers to the twelve strategic principles of managing the challenges that he has developed during his sports career and successfully applies in business and life. Difficult situations and trials – you can say things are ordinary. These challenges cannot be avoided, but you can learn to manage them.
\n“There are no problems, there are only challenges,” the author is convinced. – We just need to be ready to recognize, evaluate and overcome them. If this is not the case, it should not be interpreted as a defeat. The goal may need to be changed. Or go the other way than planned. ”<\/p>\n

4. During the quarantine period, there was a sharp increase in attendance on e-commerce platforms. But such expectations have not yet been fulfilled. Although virtually all business communications have moved online, a significant increase in online retail flow, with the exception of grocery stores and other necessities, has not yet taken place. However, online groceries show some stabilization compared to mid-March.
\nThe speed of recovery of specific markets and the depth of coronary crisis in consumption depend, first and foremost, on the extent to which soft or rigid quarantine protocols are applied in a particular country, – emphasizes in an analytical note on the resource SimilarWeb, which specializes in the analysis of global Internet traffic. It is already clear that the coronavirus pandemic is in the midst of a number of global troubles that cause long-term shifts in the paradigm of consumption around the world. Many of these changes continue the trends we have observed in the markets over the last decade. New business models emerging under such conditions will allow a number of companies and brands to seriously strengthen their position in the market. In the long run, those who will be able to transmit to their customers new experiences and impressions that will facilitate the transition from the old consumption paradigm to the new one will find themselves winning, analysts summarize.<\/p>\n

5. Although it is known that Ukraine is not Russia, the furniture markets of both countries and trends remain similar. For example, as assessed by the commercial director of the Russian company “Angstrom” Peter Kazorin:
\n\u201cIn the current situation, it is difficult to predict how the market for home furniture will behave. If we were to see an increase in demand, then most likely, players would start massively raising prices. But the Russian market has been moaning for several years, so any price maneuvers require a now balanced approach, careful risk analysis. Than, I think, and now busy fellow furniture-makers.
\nI think, however, that many manufacturers will not go for price increases, at least – as long as they have the opportunity to work on old stocks of components. Moreover, in the struggle for the remnants of active consumers, many factories will be willing to reduce their margins to zero. And only when the market returns to growth, can we talk about price increases.<\/p>\n

For those who purposefully worked to reduce the cost of production, there is more room for maneuver.
\nIn general, it seems to me that in the face of diminished demand, furniture becomes more competitive – compared to some other cost categories. Yes, the home goods sector can count on a redistribution of some of the money, say, from the budget for travel (which is now postponed indefinitely). Theoretically, these freed-up funds can be used to repair and renovate the interior, especially when people go to work remotely and want to maximize their home conditions. The question is whether the furniture manufacturers can establish appropriate communication and properly motivate the consumer. “<\/p>\n\n\t\t
