Back in 1995, Mykhailo Koropetsky founded the <a href=\"https:\/\/uafm.com.ua\/en\/members\/tov-sigma\/\">Sigma<\/a> company in Lviv to sell imported office furniture and armchairs. By the way, she was in the top ten founding companies that later formed the Ukrainian Association of Furniture Manufacturers.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8211; And what practical benefit did the father, the head of the company-importer and seller, see from being in the company of furniture-manufacturers?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&#8211; My father understood &#8211; and I am still convinced of the correctness of his decision &#8211; that those who produce furniture better and deeper understand the furniture market than those who only sell them, react faster to its changes, more sensitive to trends and prospects. And to be in a team of such people, to formally and informally contact with them &#8211; accordingly also to feel the pulse of the market, to react in time and precisely to its inquiries that only in favour of trade and development of the company. In addition, the UAFM community has given our company the opportunity to establish a mutually beneficial partnership with powerful Ukrainian manufacturers of office furniture. They are all members of the Association.<\/p>\n<p>For such a long time of its existence, <a href=\"https:\/\/uafm.com.ua\/en\/members\/tov-sigma\/\">&#8220;Sigma&#8221;<\/a> has gone through different times &#8211; as they say, and ups and downs. And characteristically, it was difficult periods that were milestones in its history. The first financial and economic crisis prompted the decision to sell not only imported furniture and chairs but also domestic manufacturers. The crisis of 2008 seriously reformed the company, more precisely &#8211; optimized its activities. There was such a rise, such a mass of orders that they did not have time to fulfil &#8211; and here is a sudden decline, in fact, a failure. However, the company&#8217;s margin of safety at the beginning of the crisis was such that four more crisis months felt good. And then we had to say goodbye to some workers, count, as they say, every hryvnia (because of this, for several years even suspended membership in UAM), streamlined production, learned to manage prudently and economically, looking for new ways of development. It became obvious that being only a seller of office furniture and armchairs is a ghastly prospect, you need to make your own. Moreover, having been dealing with ready-made furniture for a long time, knowing the market, they understood what it needed. So <a href=\"https:\/\/uafm.com.ua\/en\/members\/tov-sigma\/\">&#8220;Sigma&#8221;<\/a> also became a furniture company.<\/p>\n<p>The market dictated new conditions, set increasingly difficult tasks, and the company, already run by Koropetsky Jr., who replaced his father in management (however, his father was involved in the activities of the company he created), always accepted such challenges with dignity. It is worth mentioning that Andriy knew as a schoolboy that his parents&#8217; business would become his business and his life, so he was preparing for it accordingly. The profession he acquired at the university is analytical and managerial, ie it fully corresponds to the youth&#8217;s desire to be useful to his father. Of course, from the student bench, he immediately came to work in his parents&#8217; company.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Now <a href=\"https:\/\/uafm.com.ua\/en\/members\/tov-sigma\/\">&#8220;Sigma&#8221;,<\/a> &#8211; Andrew tells about the present, &#8211; has developed into the trade and production company which is capable to furnish offices comprehensively. We have a design team that stylizes projects according to the corporate style of a specific customer. Complex furnishing is not only desks and chairs but also the head&#8217;s office, conference rooms, receptions, kitchen zone, rest, CoffeePoint zone. That is, in fact, became furniture-universal. We carry out projects using our own furniture, as well as imported furniture from colleagues of Ukrainian companies, whose dealers we remain. Everything we can offer to potential customers is presented in the Sigma branded showroom, where the customer chooses furniture and chairs from a domestic or foreign manufacturer.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8211; Which furniture do you sell more, whose customers prefer more often &#8211; yours, other Ukrainian manufacturers or imported ones?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&#8211; About 60 percent of sales are imported furniture. And this is because, frankly, we sometimes specifically target customers for this choice. Because it happens that sometimes our Ukrainian partner manufacturers try to bypass us, their dealer, to intercept a customer who approached us, for whom they made a project based on their furniture, to sell them directly to him. This is not only the economic side of the issue but also ethical, in the end, it is a violation of corporate ethics. I am sure that not a single dealer company periodically experiences such annoyances from manufacturing partners. Therefore, the Association, knowing that such misunderstandings arise between its members, should pay attention to them and find some levers to prevent such unfriendly and non-partner manifestations. Manufacturers are not always the initiators of bypassing dealers, but also customers who, having received our design project, seek to purchase furniture for this direction from the manufacturer. It would be right, in a partnership, for manufacturers to refuse such tricks in such cases, referring to our partnership.<\/p>\n<p>The Association should have a moral and ethical code of furniture, a member of the Association, which would provide for, regulate fair rules of the game, if not in the Ukrainian furniture market, then at least in the relations of UAFM members, which would prevent such violations, would guard the interests dealer companies.<\/p>\n<p>I repeat that we sell more imported furniture precisely because we are forced to deliberately reorient customers to use in their office needs, especially foreign furniture because we know that there will be no such &#8220;step&#8221; from foreign suppliers. Due to objective and due to subjective factors. That is, some of our partners, by their unfriendly manifestations, sometimes force us to act even unpatriotically, promoting on the market, not their, not Ukrainian, but a foreign product.<\/p>\n<p>Manufacturers would act in a civilized manner towards their dealers if they registered or officially documented their applications for projects using their furniture, and such registration was a guarantee that the manufacturer itself would not try to &#8220;throw&#8221; its dealer, and will not allow competing dealers or customers directly to do so.<\/p>\n<p>We consider ourselves a serious partner company, not a &#8220;basement&#8221; dealer working from the catalogue, we have a modern showroom, where we fully present to potential customers the products of partner manufacturers, not just our own, where we can offer the production of complex design projects based on furniture of any of our partners, so we want the same respectful, honest, civilized, partnership,
