The war started a new page not only in the history of the country, but also of every domestic company, in the biography of every Ukrainian. Made adjustments in life, work, and thinking, became a test for everyone. Therefore, it is not surprising that our stories under the rubric “UAFM in faces”, which have become a kind of mini-presentations of the numerous members of our branch Association, now focus on how they feel under martial law, and usually begin with a memory of that tragic February morning.<\/p>\n

– Strangely enough, on the morning of February 24, all the employees of our company, already knowing the terrible news, were at their workplaces, – recalls Yuriy Vitiuk, co-owner of the Lviv furniture company “Vi.Vitiuk.Furniture<\/a>“, which is a family business. – But they did not start work that day. We, the owners of the company, decided to give people the opportunity to make an important decision for everyone – how to proceed. And everyone made their own decision: someone went to the Military Commissariat, and someone took their families away from the city, which became the object of enemy fire. It lasted for a week. And my wife Oksana and I decided: it’s enough to sit at home – we have to get to work.<\/em><\/p>\n

Furniture production did not resume immediately. They understood: what was before the war will no longer exist, it is necessary to adapt to new circumstances. Considered – how? Something needs to be changed, something needs to be abandoned, something needs to be transformed. Thinking in this way, making difficult decisions, they simultaneously cleaned, put things in order in the shops, and took out garbage for other purposes. It helped organize thoughts. The workers have not yet been involved, but some of them have gradually started to join such a “Saturday party” after learning that the factory is not in the castle and that something is being done there.<\/em><\/p>\n

And through these simple exercises, they came to understand that the organization of the work of some production sites was imperfect. And that while they are idle, it is more convenient to deal with their reorganization. When this was solved in three weeks, the team was invited to work. And all, except the mobilized, took their jobs.<\/em><\/p>\n

But, unfortunately, there were not as many jobs as the company had before the war. A large part of individual pre-war orders was frozen: some of the customers went abroad, and some decided to postpone the purchase of new furniture. All that remained was to complete the execution of those orders that were already in the works at the beginning of the war. But, it is nice to note, such a disappointing state, in which the company, which was trying to revive itself, found itself, did not demoralize the team, but on the contrary – rallied, and optimized everyone’s employment. And he was rewarded for that: little by little orders began to arrive. Mostly corporate. They helped the company to “straighten out its shoulders” and gain its former confidence in its necessity.<\/em><\/p>\n

As it turned out in the process of concluding contracts, companies that found themselves in such a forced layoff situation, like ours, also decided to use it to reorganize their divisions and modernize offices. For this, they also needed new interiors and furniture.<\/em><\/p>\n

And now, in the fall, we actually worked at the pre-war level.<\/em><\/p>\n

– And what – reached the level of their capabilities without any problems?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

– The furniture business was not problem-free even before the war. Certain difficulties always occur, but overcoming them is one of the signs of the company’s development. For example. Already in wartime conditions, we were advised to take advantage of the opportunity to receive a grant offered by the state for business development. We tried because there was a real need to purchase an expensive machine, and therefore to create new jobs, but for certain reasons, the attempt turned out to be unsuccessful. The team knew about such plans and counted on this step in the development of the company, so it was not a good idea to retreat. They began to figure out where to get funds for the independent purchase of a machine and found not where, but how to get them: they sold some unnecessary things in order to buy what they needed. The purchased machine is already in operation and managed by hired and trained operators.<\/em><\/p>\n

– And there is a lack of individual orders as well?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

– No, and in this segment, the situation has improved – they have increased. In the summer, those clients who were abroad returned home, and those who were afraid of the worst consequences of the war felt more confident – and we have already completed all postponed and “frozen” orders. None of the pre-war contracts were terminated. Now we fulfill new orders from individual customers. And not only from our region.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
