- Members of Parliament want to grant powers to the Export Credit Agency to insure exporters against risks. A Ukrainian company negotiates the supply of a certain product to another country. The Export Credit Agency acts as a guarantor of such a deal. And if the buyer fails to pay the seller, the agency compensates for the losses.
- In recent decades, the furniture industry in Malaysia has been growing rapidly. However, in recent years, the growth rates have decreased, mainly due to productivity stagnation and increased competition from developing furniture markets in Asia, such as China and Vietnam. Malaysia has faced material and technical constraints and labour-related issues, leading to significant price increases across the industry.
- On June 1st, a pilot project for testing a system of advance notification of emergencies started at the border with Romania. This will help reduce queues at checkpoints. The pilot project will be implemented at the following checkpoints: “Orlivka – Isakcha,” “Porubne – Siret,” “Krasnoilsk – Vekova de Sus,” “Dyakove – Halmeyu.”
- Employers will pay compensation for the employment of individuals with official unemployed status among temporarily displaced persons for no more than six months. The main condition is the timely provision of employment guarantees to the resettler for a period exceeding the payment term by two times.
- In its recent study “Top 200 Furniture Manufacturers in the World,” CSIL compiled a list of the largest companies in terms of furniture sales. The total turnover of this group of companies amounts to approximately 180 billion US dollars, of which nearly 120 billion US dollars, according to CSIL estimates, are associated with the furniture sector.
- The National Commission for Energy and Utilities Regulation has made a decision to cancel the existing price caps on electricity (“price caps”) for businesses. Starting from July 1st, electricity “price caps” may increase. Currently, the price during peak load hours (07:00-23:00) is 4,000 UAH/MWh.
- The Main Department of the State Tax Service announces that with the entry into force of changes to the tax legislation regarding the implementation of the Common Reporting Standard (CRS) in Ukraine, financial agents are obliged to take appropriate comprehensive measures to detect controlled accounts and submit a report on controlled accounts to the State Tax Service by July 1st each year.
- According to the CSIL report, the global office furniture industry reached a total production volume of 52.4 billion US dollars in 2022. After a decline in 2020 due to the consequences of COVID-19, global production showed a +14% growth at current prices in 2021 but declined again by -3% in 2022 compared to the previous year. The indicators of global office furniture production vary in different regions.
- The Union of Ukrainian Entrepreneurs calls on the Cabinet of Ministers to postpone the deadline for increasing VAT rates and excise duties on fuel and abandon their increase from July 1st. It is argued that such a decision is untimely, lacks economically justified effects, will increase the cost of production for Ukrainian manufacturers, and burden the expenses of citizens who support the Ukrainian economy.
