New customs clearance conditions for goods imported from abroad can negatively affect the furniture business in Ukraine!

  1. On January 18, Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan informed that the EU plans to provide Ukraine 4.5 billion euros. The funds will be used for the construction of the Trans-European Transport Network TEN-T for the development of transport links in the Eastern Partnership countries. The implementation of the project was approved under the Ukrainian Drive Ukraine 2030 strategy.

 

  1. The brightest furniture trends in 2019:
  • shades of pink in combination with neutral shades and dark blue, green and lemon-yellow color;
  • cozy beds, covered with soft textiles, which is pleasant to touch;
  • geometric motifs in the interior;
  • natural materials, namely – wood in combination with elements of quartzite or carrara marble, ceramics – with concrete and metal;
  • furniture with soft and rounded shapes, smooth curves again in fashion;
  • Metal as an insert for cabinet furniture and as independent elements of decoration and art objects;
  • an individual approach to custom-made furniture;
  • the smallest details in furniture will become even more important for designers;
  • a new art deco – the bright and expensive style of the 20s era will inspire modern textile and furniture designers;
  • antiques in 2019 not only collectors will buy.

 

  1. According to the Law of Ukraine No. 6776-d “On Amendments to the Tax Code of Ukraine” and certain legislative acts of Ukraine on ensuring the balance of budget revenues in 2018, changes were made regarding the order and amount of import duty rates for goods that are transported or transmitted across the border.

New conditions include the payment of customs duties, depending on the mass of goods (at a rate of $ 4 per KG) instead of the cost of goods.

Because of this, the process of importing large quantities of low value will be much more complicated, the price of the goods for the consumer will be increased and Ukrainian producers of mass products that use components imported from other countries will get some troubles.

UAM is concerned about the situation and is going to take all necessary measures to support the Ukrainian furniture manufacturer.

 

  1. Starting from February 1, Ukrzaliznytsya increases tariffs for cargo transportation: instead of 16.6% – 14.2%. “We are honest with the market and fulfill our promise. We will start automatic indexation of tariffs on the level of the index of industrial producer’s prices. Now, according to the data of 2018, we go ahead, indexing the forecast figure with further adjustment,” said Andriy Ryazantsev, Director of Economics and Finance.

 

  1. The global risks for the economy in 2019 are already known:
  • the main threat mentioned in the report of the World Economic Forum – the economic confrontation between the largest powers;
  • the following threats are the violation of multilateral trading rules and agreements;
  • to economic risks also include cyberattacks – the theft of data and resources;
  • The list of threats also hits the loss of confidence in security alliances, fake news and theft of personal data.
