1. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed the law “On Amending Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine to Reduce Pressure on Business from Market Supervisory Authorities,” which the Verkhovna Rada adopted on December 12.
“The law aims to reduce corruption risks in the activities of officials during inspections, as well as to strengthen consumer protection in the event that dangerous non-food products are found on the market,” a statement published on the president’s website says.
According to the Law, verification of the characteristics of products from their manufacturers is carried out only if there are documented reasons to believe that the products are dangerous, pose a risk and / or do not meet certain requirements as a result of actions or omissions of the manufacturer of such products.
2. The new Labor Code provides for the possibility for employees to have an electronic workbook, which in particular will protect them from the “manipulation” of the employer. Deputy Minister of Economics Yulia Sviridenko by “manipulations” refers in particular to cases where the employer does not give the work book, preventing the employee from being released. Plus innovations (the implementation of which has yet to be approved by the Verkhovna Rada) is that it is an opportunity to synchronize the work of the pension service and personnel services in the field, since there will be a single registry.
3. In the state budget for 2020, which the president has already signed, the minimum wage is prescribed at the level of 4723 UAH. As you know, the minimum rate of a single social contribution (ERU) in Ukraine is calculated on the basis of the minimum wage indicator and is 22% of it.
The actual amount of taxes for individual entrepreneurs, in addition, depends on the group of the simplified tax system in which they are:
FOPs of the first group on January 1, 2020 will pay 1249.26 UAH. per month (1039.06 UAH. ERU + 210.2 UAH. single tax);
FOPs of the second group – 1983.66 UAH. per month (1039.06 UAH. ERU + 944.6 UAH of the single tax);
in the FLP of the third group, the amount of taxes depends on income and the system that the payer chooses. This can be 3% of monthly income (for those who pay value added tax) or 5% of income for those who do not pay VAT. The size of ERUs for the third group will also be 1039.06 UAH. for a month.
4. Small and medium-sized furniture manufacturing companies are increasingly focusing on specialization, trying to gain a foothold in some narrow market niche. There are already many companies that produce furniture for trade organizations: pharmacies, bookstores, jewelry stores, supermarkets and the like. An interesting direction is the so-called advertising furniture, which is used to design points of sale (they are designed to draw the attention of potential buyers to a specific type of product), presentations, and so on.
In general, the number of possible specializations of furniture manufacturers is limited. Most likely in the coming years, the trend towards specialization will continue to develop. Already, there are companies on the market that manufacture exclusively glass furniture, products made only from specific materials (for example, stained oak, plastic, metal), and highly functional products (computer tables, office partitions, bar counters).
