Everything that happened last week in Ukraine and the world and is relevant for the furniture maker, read in our digest:
1. According to the results of the trade mission to Georgia, which was conducted by the Ukrainian Association of Business and Trade, the positions of cooperation between the countries were strengthened.
Georgia is interesting for Ukrainian business because it is a full member of the Regional Convention of Pan-Euro-Mediterranean Preferential Rules of Origin of Goods, which serves as the foundation for facilitating trade and increasing trade flows in the Mediterranean region. Secondly, Georgia is the only country in the region that has simultaneously operating free trade zones with both the People’s Republic of China and the European Union.
2. A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Ukrainian Business and Trade Association and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in order to strengthen the direction of economic diplomacy and assistance to Ukrainian exporters in European and other promising international markets. The cooperation priorities are determined by the encouragement and support of business missions, the participation of Ukrainian companies in international exhibitions and other events and initiatives that make Ukrainian goods and services recognizable, attractive and competitive.
3. Each type of transportation has its own advantages. With regard to capacity and wide geography, the priority here is uniquely for sea transportation; if environmental friendliness, reliability and safety indicators are important, it is better to trust the railway, and when it comes to door-to-door delivery, it is better to transport by cars. The best option is to combine the benefits of each of these types of transportation.
This is the decision taken by United Global Logistics when launching a new hub in Zaporizhzhia. This made it possible to speed up logistics 3-4 times on the route between the industrial centre of Ukraine and the three largest ports of Odesa. The main advantage is the speed of delivery of the goods to the final recipients.
The EU is actively developing a multimodal type of logistics. If we talk about figures, then in Europe, transportation with the involvement of railway transport and the hub occupies up to 60% of transportation. In Ukraine – less than 2% of the market. Their essence is that the cargo – the container – enters the territory of the hub, and from there it is delivered by trucks directly to the customer.
4. Brazilian jewellery designer Paola Vilas unveiled the first collection of home furnishings in a recognizable modernist aesthetic. The design of the objects is emphatically matriarchal: the playful shape of a woman’s breast in-wall objects, low tables and trays, the sensual lines of the profile of a woman’s face in candlesticks and chairs. The materials used – brass, iron, Brazilian stones – create organic contrasts that Vilas often uses in his jewellery collections.
5. IKEA introduced its first “smart” coffee table air purifier.
The purifier is located under the countertop and consists of three filters to clean the air from large particles such as hair and dust, the second captures 99.5% more small particles in the air – 1/400 of a millimetre in size, the third becomes an obstacle to pollutants such as formaldehyde and unpleasant odours…
