About what happened over the past week in Ukraine and the world and what is relevant and interesting for the furniture maker, read in our digests :

1. In Ukraine, by decision of the government, the concept of “critical import” was actually abolished, so the currency restrictions for the import of goods were also simplified and the deadlines for settlement of export-import transactions were increased, the National Bank of Ukraine reported. This made it possible for businesses to import any commodity products from July 9.

An important prerequisite for the simplification of currency restrictions for the import of products was named by the NBU as the entry into force of the law restoring customs duties and taxes on imports from July 1.

2. The Verkhovna Rada adopted as a basis a draft law, thanks to which businesses will be exempted from responsibility for untimely submitted financial statements during martial law and within three months after its termination or cancellation. You can publish the financial statements together with the corresponding reports for the whole period on your web page or on your website within three months after the termination or abolition of martial law or the state of war for the whole period of non-disclosure.

Also, legal entities will not be liable for violating the terms of publication of annual consolidated financial statements, audit reports, management reports, consolidated management reports, report on payments to the state,

consolidated report on payments to the state.

3. The government of Australia announced a one-year waiver of customs duties on the import of goods from Ukraine into the country.  The decision provides for the reduction of the tariff rate from five percent to zero. Therefore, from the beginning of July, goods produced in Ukraine can freely enter the Australian market, which will contribute to the increase in export activity – in particular, furniture manufacturers who are already present on the Australian market, and those who will be interested in it in order to take advantage of the possibility of duty-free export.

4. Abroad, the use of street kitchens in places of public catering is currently in trend. In the Lower Saxon town of Bissendorf, the startup Burnout. kitchen revolutionized outdoor grilling and made it all-weather. A KUKA robot is used here.

One of the manufacturers of such kitchens is the company “DoT GmbH”, which presented a premium version of the outdoor kitchen Lux, which perfectly combines design and functionality, using part of the elements of the indoor kitchen. Its operating endurance in the company’s motto is “365 days on the street.”

5. The prestigious Austrian award “Best of Design 2022” from the magazine “Schöner Wohnen” was awarded to the Verona seating furniture set and the Stella Alpina bed with spring mattress produced by the family company “ADA”, which in Austria is considered one of the legislators of furniture fashion.

Verona, for example, impresses, first of all, with freely moving back cushions that can be placed separately on the seat. The neck pillow is also freely movable, so it can be placed where and how convenient for the sitter – just like the adjustable armrest. A functional highlight is the chaise longue for relaxation: with one push of a button, the seat turns into a comfortable bed.
