Dynamics of Ukrainian furniture exports for the first half of 2023

The furniture industry of Ukraine is adapting and looking for new ways of sustainable production and distribution.

Despite the war and unstable economic conditions, our manufacturers continue to export and promote the FURNITURE OF UKRAINE brand in the world.

In this context, the analysis of the state of Ukrainian furniture exports in the first half of 2023 helps to identify which strategies and approaches are the most effective in conditions of change and uncertainty.

In the first half of 2023, Ukraine exported furniture worth $407.8 million, which is 50.6% of the annual volume of exports of goods under group 94 for 2022. Compared to the volume of exports in 1-2 quarters of this year compared to the previous one, we lag behind by 5.6%. At the same time, a comparison of furniture exports over the past 10 years for the first 6 months of the year gives us an average annual growth rate of 5.5%.

The positive trade balance for the 94th group of goods for the first half of 2023 is $246.6 million: while exporting $407.8 million, we imported furniture worth $161.2 million.

The most #FurnitureofUkraine was sold to Poland. The specific weight of furniture exports to this country is 31.2% – in the amount of $130 million.

  • To Germany 20.71% – in the amount of $84.5 million.
  • To Denmark 5.38% – in the amount of $21.9 million.
  • Belgium 5.06% – in the amount of $20.6 million.
  • Austria 4.68% – in the amount of $19.1 million.
  • France 3.16% – in the amount of $12.9 million.
  • Romania 2.91% – in the amount of $11.9 million.
  • Great Britain 2.41% – in the amount of $9.8 million.
  • The Netherlands 2.34% – in the amount of $9.5 million.

The highest dynamics of export growth of #FurnitureofUkraine for the 1st half of 2023 compared to the same period in 2022 has 🇩🇪Germany – it is +$5.7 million, which is a 7.2% increase to the amount of $84.5 million.

We increased exports to Belgium by +$4.9 million, which is a 31.4% increase.
To France by +$4.0 million, which is a 44.5% increase.
To the Czech Republic by +$2.2 million, which is a 36.5% increase.
To the Netherlands by +$1.8 million, which is a 23.8% increase.
To Bulgaria by +$1.7 million, which is a 28.5% increase.
At the same time, we reduced exports to Poland by $29.5 million or by 18.5% from $159.5 million to $130.0.

 

Note that Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium had the most visitors at the national stands of the Ukrainian Association of Furniture Manufacturers at exhibitions such as Meble Polska 2022-2023 and IMM Cologne 2023.

Preparing to work at the MOW furniture exhibition in September of this year, our team chose the following key countries to invite professional furniture buyers: Germany, Great Britain, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Belgium.
