To stop means to lose a lot

Our call caught Leonid Spivakov at the facility, and it immediately became clear that the RDWood was working. When he resigned, he explained in more detail how the company works in the current environment.

– Yes, we work. We see no other alternative. To stop means a lot to lose: the team, the trust of customers, and the company’s reputation over the years. Therefore, we strive to fulfill what was promised to customers in accordance with the contracts in full, on time, despite the current difficult conditions.

In quarantine conditions, one object has even been completed and handed over to the customer. In others, where work began in the pre-quarantine period, we are working at a slow pace. Of course, the quarantine made adjustments to the work. First, since public transport ceased to function, we deliver workers who do not own cars to the company and facilities by company transport.

 – Everyone?

– Everyone who works in production. And office workers work remotely, at home. With half payment.

We even bring painters from Zhytomyr for a week: we pick them up on Mondays and take them home on weekends.

– Such valuable staff?

– Really valuable. And in the sense of company commitment. At first, the company’s production was located in Zhytomyr. When we moved from there, some Zhytomyr residents – one of the first employees who started with us – did not want to part with the company. This is how they still work, plying between cities.

– Were there no cases of infection with this terrible virus?

– It was only that one worker was found to have a slightly elevated temperature, sent home, and at home the thermometer showed 36.6. But just in case, they left him at home for three days. Everything seems to be fine.

– A very encouraging fact. RDWood is the first company with which we have already talked about quarantine restrictions, which did not send any employees on forced leave at their own expense, which practically did not deviate from the usual production rhythm. And those who work from home do not complain about lower wages?

– No, everyone reacted with understanding to such forced realities. In March, everyone was paid in full, and in April, some will receive less. Of course, if we go back to what quarantine has brought to our work, workers who are in the workplace are provided with masks and antiseptics in accordance with the quarantine requirements. Bought a contactless thermometer. Work does not stop on both commercial and residential areas.

– Why only on a part of residential?

– We may have already completed work on some of them, but the customers themselves asked to suspend: they say the neighbors are against the presence of strangers in the house in this alarming situation. But everything that needs to be made for these objects is made.

My and my partner’s contacts with clients do not stop. And not just remote. Both new and, so to speak, old clients are either brought to the office or showroom, or they themselves come for negotiations, coordination of materials, etc. One contract was signed directly during quarantine. To do this, we brought our manager to the office, then the client. This is how we work.

– What about foreign clients?

– We have two export orders. In particular in Montenegro. The contract has been signed, but work on it is frozen. Didn’t have time to go to quarantine restrictions for measurements, and without them – how? We still did something, and we can’t continue.

– Do customers pay regularly?

– Mainly. But it happens that some people try, so to speak, to speculate on quarantine: to get discounts, or to defer payment. Someone has a really objective reason for that, and someone is cunning. But everyone – it’s obvious – began to treat costs very carefully.
