UAFM’s Letter to the Government for support in the situation with the new terms of customs clearance of goods

Ukrainian business has become accustomed to break through and succeed even in the most difficult conditions, however, we do not leave hopes for the consistent action of the Government in relation to the Ukrainian producer.

On behalf of the entire Ukrainian Association of Furniture Manufacturers , we express our deep gratitude to Mr. Stepan Kubiv for keeping the word and support of exports, including furniture manufacturers, which will strengthen the development of major-trade trade between Ukraine and other countries of the world. The first promised step was to sign the Free Trade Agreement between Ukraine and Israel.

However, on the one hand, the furniture industry received support in the entry into the export market, and on the other hand at the end of last week, there were significant restrictions for the production of furniture in Ukraine.

In accordance with the Law of Ukraine No.6776-d “On Amendments to the Tax Code of Ukraine” and certain legislative acts of Ukraine on ensuring the balance of budget revenues in 2018, changes were made regarding the order and amount of import duty rates for goods that are being transferred or transmitted across the border.

New conditions include the payment of customs duties, depending on the mass of goods (at a rate of $ 4 per KG) instead of the cost of goods.

Because of this, the process of importing goods of high value for low value will increase significantly, and the price of the goods will increase for the end user, and most importantly, Ukrainian furniture manufacturers who use accessories, components, fabrics, paint and varnish and other materials imported from other countries will suffer.

Representatives of the Ukrainian furniture industry are concerned about the situation, and UAFM, as its spokesman, plans to take all necessary measures to support the Ukrainian furniture manufacturer.

The first step has already been taken, we call for support to Mr. Stepan Kubiv, who has already proved his indifference to the development of domestic furniture production, as well as our partners,
We believe that the Government is ready for dialogue with the authorities and has a common goal with us – the economic growth of Ukraine!
