1. To help address the shortage of skilled workers in the furniture industry, the Ukrainian Association of Furniture Manufacturers (UAFM) is promoting the profession of furniture maker and fostering collaboration between educational institutions and furniture manufacturers. Valentina Khystova, the Executive Director of the Ukrainian Association of Furniture Manufacturers, participated and delivered a presentation titled “Furniture Maker is Cool” to students of specialized educational institutions during the career guidance conference “Your Future Profession” held as part of the “LISDEREVMASH” exhibition.

2. In September 2023, Ukrainian furniture and door manufacturers showcased their products at the MOW 2023 exhibition on the joint national stand “Furniture of Ukraine.” Nine companies united in one pavilion to display a variety of furniture for bedrooms, kitchens, and living rooms, including metal, wooden, and upholstered furniture. The collective exhibition was organized by the Furniture of Ukraine Business Expo team, providing participants with various services, including booth design, customs clearance, transportation, and guest invitations. Participation in the national stand allowed manufacturers to save costs, attract professional buyers, develop their brands, and find new partners.

The stand was organized with the support of the regional USAID Economic Development, Governance and Enterprise Growth (EDGE) Project.

3. “I want to express my gratitude for this incredible event, which was made possible with the support of UAFM and USAID. This event truly helps furniture makers and influences the overall development of Ukraine,” shared Roman Sydorenko, the owner of ReStyle company, who, as part of a delegation of 20 participants from the Ukrainian furniture business, took part in a trade mission to London during the London Design Fair from September 21 to 24, 2023. The UAFM trade mission to Great Britain and the organization of the FURNITURE OF UKRAINE national stand at the London Design Fair was implemented with the support of the USAID Program “Competitive Economy of Ukraine”.

4. The State Tax Service has announced the launch of the “My Tax” mobile application. This platform provides access to the agency’s electronic services and allows taxpayers to make payments using payment systems.

5. New rules for the placement of advertising and advertising content will come into effect today. The changes include an updated and expanded definition of advertising, criteria for targeted advertising, and a ban on product placement in specific programs.

6. Entrepreneurs who have relocated changed their names, or modified their types of economic activities can now inform the state with just a few clicks online, without the need to visit government offices, fill out paperwork, or wait for breaks. You can submit a request for changes on the “Diia” portal and receive the results within one working day.

7. Researchers at the Ukrainian Research Institute for Forestry and Wood Industry (UkrNDILGA) conducted a current analysis of the implementation of one of the most economically valuable tree species, the common oak. Due to military actions in Ukraine, the number of wood processing enterprises has decreased by almost half, leading to a decline in domestic demand not only for industrial oak but also for the entire range of roundwood products.

8. The deadline (until October 18) for the registration of all legal entities in the Unified Judicial Information and Telecommunication System is approaching. While there is no legal liability for non-compliance with this registration, the consequences are procedural: the court may leave documents without further action or reject them without consideration. 9. Before the war, the company “KIDIGO” produced equipment and products exclusively for children. The conflict forced them to reorganize production to serve the needs of internal refugees. The company now manufactures blankets, pillows, sleeping bags, umbrellas, and more for them. They require financial assistance in this endeavor.

10. The “Home and Interior” magazine explored the trend of increased demand for furniture made with epoxy resin. Demand for such products has grown 6-7 times in recent years. While initially, only dining tables were produced in this way, now there is a wide range of furniture and decor items that can completely furnish an interior.

11. Apple has filed a patent application for creating a touch-sensitive fabric that can detect human touch using embedded mini-sensors. 12. The Polish furniture industry has once again become a supported export sector. Starting in October, entrepreneurs in the furniture industry can apply for support from EU funds to co-finance participation in leading international exhibitions and conferences organized in the United States and India.
