Everything that happened last week in Ukraine and the world and that is relevant to the furniture maker, read in our digest:

1. The first train on the PRC-Europe rail freight route departed from Jinhua, Zhejiang Province in eastern China, to Kyiv on Friday.

It is expected that in 15-18 days the train will deliver to the capital of Ukraine 86 standard containers with goods worth a total of 4.6 million US dollars. In the future, freight trains will transport metal products, general-purpose goods, and power tools from China to Ukraine, and in the opposite direction – wood, minerals, agricultural products, and more. It would be a sin for Ukrainian furniture makers, who have always had a Chinese interest, not to use the services of such a profitable carrier.

2. Ukrposhta and USAID launched a series of educational videos about the possibility of trading on the international Internet platforms “Amazon”, “ETSY”, “Shopify” and “eBay”.

The educational course consists of five blocks of educational videos and short reference books, which can be found on the Facebook page of E-Export school from Ukrposhta. In the videos themselves, the heroes, who have already opened their own business, briefly talk about the opening of a new store on the world’s online trading platforms. The course is available online for anyone who has not yet traded on these international platforms but has such a desire. The initiators are confident that it will become a roadmap for entrepreneurs in developing their own business abroad and will help Ukrainians to start or scale their business in world markets.

3. Overpaid and/or erroneously paid single contribution to the compulsory state social insurance (EU) can be refunded.

The refund is made on the basis of the payer’s application for such a refund. The application is most often submitted to the controlling body, to whose account the amounts of the single contribution have been paid.

In case of receipt of an application from insured persons who voluntarily participate in the system of compulsory state social insurance, the payer attaches the original or a certified copy of the settlement document (receipt, payment order, etc.) confirming payment of such funds to a non-budget account. social contribution “.

4. XPO Logistics has published the results of a study commissioned by Statista in the largest English-language furniture markets in the United States and the United Kingdom. In this survey, the same proportion of respondents – 55% in the US and 56% in the UK – said that during the cobweb epidemic engaged in home improvement: someone made repairs in the kitchen or bathroom, someone improved living areas – bedroom and living room. The researchers had the task of finding out whether the purchasing behavior of citizens has changed as a result of the pandemic. As for the channels of purchase, it turned out that 94% of Americans and 70% of Britons are willing to continue to make the same number of purchases online (or even more) than they did during the isolation period (including bulky goods – furniture and appliances). At the same time, more than half of the respondents stated that social distancing and disinfection measures are enough for them to resume shopping in offline outlets. In general, 56% of surveyed consumers in the United States plan to make a significant share of purchases in traditional stores in the future.

5. In order to decriminalize the forest complex and stop total deforestation, the President of Russia stated that the country’s export of uncultivated or roughly cultivated forest will be banned from 2022. This statement divided the country’s timber market into two camps. If in large corporations, which often face a shortage of raw materials, such a measure is considered useful, then companies that do not have processing capacity, call such a ban deadly to themselves. Most experts doubt that a sharp cessation of exports will benefit the market, which will not have time to rebuild in a year.
