Everything that happened last week in Ukraine and the world and that is relevant to the furniture maker, read in our digest:

1. The Verkhovna Rada adopted the Law, which improved the procedure for state supervision (control) over compliance with the legislation on labour and employment, increasing its efficiency, reducing the financial burden on economic entities.

These changes:

– state, internal and public control over observance of labour legislation is separated;

– the grounds for prosecution for non-admission to the inspection, creation of obstacles in its conduct were specified;

– the deadlines for imposing financial sanctions for violations of labour and employment legislation and issuing an order by the supervisory authority at the first commission of the offence;

– established administrative responsibility of officials of state supervision (control) bodies for issuing instructions, orders, tax notices-decisions, requirements and decisions on imposition of financial penalties, which are cancelled in the administrative or judicial order, etc.

2. The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has published a new forecast of global economic growth. She expects the global economy to grow by 5.6 percent in 2021. This is 1.4 percentage points more than in the December forecast of the organization.

So far, only China, India and Turkey have exceeded the pre-pandemic figures. Despite the improvement in the global forecast, production and income levels in many countries will remain below the level expected before the pandemic at the end of the year.

3. In the context of the existing legislative trend of maximum “employment of sole proprietors”, the legislator also tries to create opportunities for the employment of freelancers (freelance – periodic work, the time of which and the amount of which can not be predicted in advance). To this end, the Cabinet of Ministers has developed a relevant bill “On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine Concerning the Regulation of Certain Non-Standard Forms of Employment.”

This document introduces a new type of employment contract – a fixed-term employment contract. It is defined as a special type of employment contract, the terms of which do not set a specific time of work. And the employee’s obligation to perform it arises only if the owner provides the work provided for in this employment contract without guaranteeing by the employer that such work will be provided by him constantly.

4. The organizers of the famous Lviv exhibition “Woodworking” announced its preparation for the traditional end of spring (May 18-21).

The main directions of the international exhibition will be woodworking, forestry, carpentry, furniture production and bioenergy. Accordingly, manufacturers and suppliers of equipment, tools, materials, components for the relevant industries and service providers that may be necessary and useful for these sectors are invited.

5. The edges of tables and other furniture products can be more important in the design of products if you use personalization tapes with images (patterns) from the Turkish company “Tece”. In the patterns, you can see natural ornaments, silhouettes of cities or echoes of ancient times.

The company offers such a product for slabs with a thickness of 30, 36 and 56 mm. The width of the edge, respectively, is 27, 34 or 53 millimetres and can have a thickness of 0.8 or 2 millimetres.
