Everything that happened last week in Ukraine and the world and is relevant for the furniture maker, read in our digest:
1. The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a law that reduces the size of fines for violation of labor laws. We are talking about the refusal of an employment contract with employees. For admitting an employee to work without registration they will be fined ten times the minimum wage established by law at the time the violation is discovered, for each employee in respect of whom the violation has been committed.
2. “7 habits of extremely effective people” – this is the name of the book by the American entrepreneur Stephen Covey, which we advise you to read.
He believes that the process of self-improvement depends on daily efforts and systemic work. It is about such daily habits that are discussed in this book. This is a book about the qualities that people striving for success should have, a book about the harmonious development of a person, about the search for the meaning of life and reaction to circumstances. Stephen Covey studied a huge amount of literature on leadership, success, analyzed the lives of many great people and came to the conclusion that the basis of long-term success and true self-realization of any person is fidelity to some basic principles, truths that are effective in any situation and under any circumstances. The author’s advice was highly appreciated by Time magazine, which in 2011 included the book of an American business consultant in the list of 25 most influential business books on management.
3. In his somewhat satirical essay, Parkinson gives an example of an elderly lady who writes a postcard of her niece. Since she has no other business, this simple task takes her a whole day. So, any work is usually stretched out for a while, it stands out, Parkinson’s law states. The experiments showed: if the time to complete a certain task “suddenly” increased, the participants completed it longer. Scientists also found that extra time never leads to an increase in the quality of the assignment. People sometimes say: if it were not for the time frame, I would never have completed this work.
4. The international design, fashion and design fair “Design Miami” was held from December 3 to 8. The American Art and Design Week each time demonstrates how iconic brands come together with famous artists, and something new is born from the bold collaborations of fashion houses, interior and textile designers.
Designer Harry Nuriev emphasized sustainable development and recycling of materials. The ideas of recycling were realized on the example of a sofa, under a transparent shell of which there is a bunch of defective, outdated, unusable Balenciaga clothes.
And the Japanese-British duet “Studio Swine” together with Instagram created an inflatable stand with giant PVC bubbles, it is easy to move from place to place and use in various exposures, taking care of the environment. Recycled materials can be used more than once.
5. The research center of the company Pantone, which is engaged in experimental work with color and its influence, called the color 19-4052 Classic Blue (classic blue, which is elegant in its simplicity) the color of next year.
According to Pantone Executive Director Leatrice Eisman, this is a clean and reliable color that you can always rely on. In the Instagram research center, “endless blue”, like the color of the sky at dusk, emphasizes the desire for reliability and a stable foundation on which to build. At the same time, Classic Blue encourages you to go beyond the ordinary.
