How to deliver goods by sea in the conditions of blocking Ukrainian ports, comment of the director Stanislav Yudin

The topic in the subtitle of this article is truly archival. For Ukrainian exporters, for whom sea delivery of goods is not only convenient, but also sometimes the main, but now inaccessible from the territory of Ukraine due to the blockade by the Russian occupiers of our main ports.

The other day there was information that the first cargo ship with Ukrainian export corn was sent from the Romanian port of Constanta. Of course, from this port it is now possible to send for foreign sales not only agricultural products. Furniture exporters can also take advantage of this opportunity. In particular, it is provided by the Ukrainian company HN Logistics, as its director Stanislav Yudin said.

The company is young, established with an office in Odessa in 2020. It serves as a trading port of the so-called “Greater Odessa” (Odessa, Black Sea and “South”), thanks to which it quickly took a leading position among Ukrainian forwarding companies in the field of international logistics and transport services. Moreover, it carries out multimodal international transportation, ie not only by sea, but also by road, rail and air. And almost all types of cargo (standard, prefabricated, oversized, dangerous) is taken to deliver to customers’ addresses anywhere in the world. Today, of course, except for those two neighbors who were hostile.

Since the beginning of the war, the company has temporarily relocated its Odessa office to Constanta, Romania, where it rents warehouses for transshipment and temporary storage of cargo at the seaport, located within the checkpoint, which provides significant convenience and customer service.

The company also offers customers a range of logistics and transport services:

  • organization of loading and unloading operations;
  • warehousing of goods in different countries;
  • customs clearance services;
  • organization of cargo insurance;
  • chartering of vessels.

Unfortunately, the company is currently unable to provide multimodal transport services in our country under martial law. Performs only trucking – from Ukraine to the port of Constanta. But from the territory of Romania performs all types of transportation in which it specializes. Stanislav Yudin said that customers can deliver export cargo to the Romanian port by their own transport, but still there the cargo for sea transportation will have to be repackaged, ie reloaded into sea containers. Therefore, it is more convenient if the entire logistics and transport chain of cargo delivery from the manufacturer to its foreign customer will be instructed to provide the carrier, in this context, the company “HN Logistics”. Needless to say, but, like everything today, in the conditions of destruction by the aggressor, including the Ukrainian economy, all logistics and transport services became more expensive.

There is another foreign seaport that became an important shipper of Ukrainian export cargo by sea during the war. It is a port in Gdansk, Poland. HN Logistics can also ship goods from Ukrainian exporters from there, but it is more convenient for it to use the port of Constanta: both the office is there now and the warehouses there are rented by it.
