Everything that happened last week in Ukraine and the world and that is relevant to the furniture maker, read in our digest:

1. President Volodymyr Zelensky signed Law № 786 “On Amendments to the Tax Code of Ukraine Concerning the Functioning of the Electronic Cabinet and Simplification of the Work of Individual Entrepreneurs”, which, in particular, abolishes the mandatory income book for sole proprietors.

In particular, natural persons-entrepreneurs of groups I-III on the simplified taxation system will be able to keep records in any convenient form – paper or electronic – indicating the amount of income per month. And individual entrepreneurs in the general system will be able to keep records in paper or electronic form, but in a standard form defined by the Ministry of Finance.

The document also amends the Tax Code in order to create favourable conditions for businesses and investors. In particular, the conditions of tax inspections have been eased. When checking the registration of employees, the possibility to interview employees and employers about paid passive income and other additional benefits and compensations was eliminated.

2. The deputy bill № 3927 on the creation of the National Commission in the field of transport which work will provide the transparent formation of tariffs in the branch is registered in parliament. In particular, the new body will be able to influence the cost of passenger and freight transportation by Ukrzaliznytsia, the level of port and airport charges.

It will be recalled that Ukrzaliznytsia has raised freight rates by 63% since 2016, and the validity of such an increase is questionable.

3. The Unified State Register of Legal Entities, Individual Entrepreneurs and Public Organizations will not work until August 16 (only certain services will be available to users) and its technical component is being updated.

The Ministry of Justice and its interregional departments make every effort to ensure that all documents already received are reviewed in a timely manner, prior to the commissioning of the new software of the Unified State Register.

4. French designer Christophe Hernig, who specializes in interior design, has developed a protective plexiglass shield. Such protective devices should hang over tables in restaurants and separate visitors who sit close to each other. The developer was guided by the fact that even in the post-quarantine period, restaurants and bars will no longer be able to function as before – the rules of social distance will be preserved, because, according to epidemiologists, we will have to coexist with the coronavirus.

Transparent plastic fixtures will be hung above the tables like pendant lights. People will be able to hear each other, but not breathe on their companions. While such shields are designed separately for each user, but the designer is working on a device for couples and even entire families.

5. The search for alternative natural materials today is taken care of not only by fashion designers. Companies do not spare money on developments that help improve the environment and save natural resources, and for many buyers, the environmental philosophy of the campaign becomes an important factor in choosing a manufacturer.

For example, Pineapple Anam has invented and patented a safe and innovative Piñatex material: it makes “skin” identical to natural from pineapple tops. This material is used in the manufacture of furniture, shoes, bags. This technology is perfectly in line with the principles of zero-waste production and the circular economy.
