What “takes” “IKEA”

Everything that happened last week in Ukraine and the world and that is relevant to the furniture maker, read in our digest:

1. The Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine and the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Lithuania have agreed to cooperate in the development of passenger and freight rail transport, as well as in the development of digital solutions for the exchange of permits for international road transport. This will further increase the volume of container freight by combined trains “Viking” and “Containerships Train”, as well as increasing competition in the transportation of goods on the transport corridor “North-South”.

In addition, the cooperation of the two countries in the development of digital solutions for the exchange of permits for international road transport will analyze the legal and technological possibilities of obtaining such permits in electronic format.

2. In his address to the people, President Volodymyr Zelensky promised to assist businesses in strengthening quarantine in a number of regions. The head of state appealed to local authorities to send their proposals on how to support people. The state will also not stand aside. Zelensky promises that the central government is ready to add the same amount of aid from the local budget, which will thus double.

3. The Kyiv authorities reminded that benefits are available for metropolitan entrepreneurs during severe quarantine restrictions, ie the city authorities deliberately under-generate revenues to the local budget in order to support the business.

In the case of activities (if it is not prohibited under the conditions of quarantine), entrepreneurs have the opportunity to pay only 50% of the amount of certain local fees for the entire period of any quarantine restrictions.

4. The Ukrainian Association of Woodworking Equipment, with the support of the USAID Competitive Economy Program in Ukraine is launching a dual center initiative

training of furniture production workers

and invites suppliers of CNC woodworking machines to join the team of UADO members and participate in the implementation of this project.

It provides training for operators of machining centers (three- and four-axis machining) and the development of a methodology for creating a series of training courses to train specialists in specialities related to the management of modern machines for furniture production in the future.

It is easy to join the project: just call +38 093 323 9014 or write an e-mail: uado.info@gmail.com

5. The Swedish company “IKEA” is called a fast fashion brand in the world of furniture. Its competitive advantage has always been to look at things through the eyes of the buyer. To determine the cultural characteristics and consumer demands of a region, people, the company sends its representatives to conduct interviews with residents of the countries where it is going to open its next store. For example, in order to attract Latin Americans living in California with their products, IKEA designers visited the homes of their Latin American employees, after which the range was expanded with large furniture and bright colors, because this is what Latin Americans love.
