Everything that happened last week in Ukraine and the world and that is relevant for the furniture maker, read in our digest:
1. Automatic registration of natural persons-entrepreneurs has been launched in Ukraine. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Justice for Digitalization Sergei Orlov. Now the registration itself will take only a few seconds, all the necessary checks are automated, and the data goes directly to the register. “Services such as automatic registration of sole proprietors should become a new digital standard in Ukraine. We have already left the beta test, and everyone who wishes to receive this service can join this process by registering a private individual,” – he added.
2. According to the survey, every third job seeker over the age of 40 has problems due to age.
About half of employers consider the older generation to be just as good employees, one in ten consider them even better than the younger ones, but the same percentage believe that 40+ employees are less effective.
Only 18% of surveyed employers in the state are dominated by employees over 40 years of age. About 13% said they do not hire workers over the age of 65, explaining their position by the specifics of work that requires physical activity. The vast majority of employers (39%) try to hire both young and older workers (under 45) and pay more attention to experience than age. The vast majority of employers – 94% – say that the level of salary does not depend on age.
3. The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has established a Council for the Development of the Creative Economy under the Government. It was created to study the problematic issues of the development of creative industries and the formation of the creative economy. The main tasks of the Council are: to promote the coordination of actions of executive bodies aimed at the development of creative industries and the development of a competitive creative product; preparation of proposals to stimulate the development of creative industries; development of mechanisms to increase the competitiveness of the Ukrainian creative product in domestic and foreign markets; improving the rights and interests of business entities engaged in activities related to creative industries; developing a direct dialogue in the format of “government-business”, in particular at the regional level.
The task of the furniture industry is to prove that it can be on the list of creative industries. There are prerequisites for this.
4. IKEA presented three projects that will create an inclusive environment in typical apartments. They are designed to meet the needs of different people, including those in wheelchairs.
Particular attention is paid to details: universal furniture, accessories and household items, the absence of sharp corners, and “impassable areas”. For example, the designers shortened the length of the curtains so that they could not be touched by a wheelchair, and the door handles were placed at a height accessible to all. IKEA hopes that thanks to the new design projects, the most thoughtful, convenient, and safe design will be available to as many people as possible.
5. Designer Philip Cronquista has developed an unusual Mono chair in the style of Pete Mondrian for the Finnish company Hamari Auditorium, which specializes in the production of furniture for large halls.
In the closed position, the object looks like a monolithic plate 11, 9 cm thick. When opened, it turns into a soft comfortable seat with armrests for the cinema. The unique mechanism of the lever for sitting and armrests allows them to rise synchronously in one movement, and the thin folding form is rather compact and gives the chance to place more chairs indoors. The chair is equipped with a spring-loaded mechanism: Mono returns to its original position as soon as you get up. The Mono chair won the SIT Furniture Design Award 2021.
