First Meeting of the oak furniture manufacturers UK Market Research Group

On 15 August 2025, the first working meeting of UAFM member companies participating in the Export Alliance Mastery programme took place. This stage of the programme focuses on market research and is part of a broader two-month practical training funded by the Estonian Centre for International Development (ESTDEV) and implemented by Visionest Institute in cooperation with the Entrepreneurship and Export Promotion Office within the Diia.Business framework.

The meeting was moderated by Oksana Donska, UAFM Board Member and owner of Oakhunt. Participants represented Ukrainian manufacturers of solid wood furniture and wooden products who are preparing to enter the UK market, including: Vuiko, Tokabo, Pavlyk, MeZey, Derevo and New Energy.

During the session, the group discussed:

  • Principles of market research – how to define relevant criteria, select reliable sources, and compare markets by key indicators.
  • Using Similarweb.com – to analyse website traffic, identify market leaders, and assess potential online sales channels.
  • Using Google Trends – to track seasonal and long-term demand trends, compare popularity of search terms, and adapt marketing strategies accordingly.

Participants also reviewed a shared table of statistical indicators on the UK market and agreed on further data collection priorities. This collaborative approach ensures that every company has access to structured, up-to-date information for building its export strategy.

The next meeting of the group will take place on 29 August, with an intermediate opportunity on 22 August for Oksana to gather and forward additional questions to the group’s UK mentor.

UAFM continues to support its members in developing practical skills for entering foreign markets, with the ultimate goal — specific clients and signed contracts.
