UAFM in the Faces: Interview with Dmytro Belykh, CEO of IndigoWood
And made such furniture!
Furniture factory “IndigoWood” – the capital’s family company for the manufacture of children’s furniture. What prompted the White brothers (Dmitry heads the company) to do this type of furniture business, they are not original. What compelled most of their colleagues: attempts to find good furniture at an affordable price for their children were unsuccessful. And they decided to make beautiful and safe furniture that would combine quality, durability, versatility and environmental friendliness. And made such furniture! And they have made sure that they have undeniable market success. By the way, outside Ukraine as well.
Needless to say, IndigoWood children’s furniture is also made of the safest materials, because it is an axiom, but when it comes to natural wood, they prefer beech, birch or beech plywood. Working with plywood allows you to make furniture from solid large elements, avoiding the use of small elements (for example, rails). For example, a bed for newborns consists of five main elements: four sides and a bottom, there are no narrow rails, as in classic models, which over time can break, stick out, and so on. Plywood is a perfectly smooth natural material that does not form dangerous chips or chips, even with prolonged intensive use. This is important given that safety is one of the main characteristics of children’s furniture.
Maybe these things do not differ much “IndigoWood” from other manufacturers of children’s furniture, but what can really be a feature, it is such a technological feature: a significant part of the furniture process in the company – “it’s handmade, which is an absolute luxury in terms of both manufacturers and buyers, but also provides the highest standard. ” And their furniture is collapsible. Make a chair from the purchased parts for yourself and a child who is willing to do it – and out of curiosity, and in the excitement of the game, with children’s self-assertion: I myself (a).
Among other defining characteristics of children’s furniture (strength, original design, play potential, orthopaedics) parents value their ability to “grow” with children. Changing the dimensional parameters in children’s furniture is provided mainly by the use of transformers. Dmytro Belykh’s company provides “growth” of children’s furniture not only with engineering but also with design solutions, some of which are truly original. When we talk about the undisputed transformational creativity in some models of “IndigoWood”, it certainly applies to cribs for newborns type 3 in 1, which uses a furniture transformation for another purpose – to change the functionality of the furniture. In this case, such a bed can be a simple manipulation or a sofa or desk, that is, will serve when the child grows up, and when he even becomes a schoolboy.
Transformer and modular furniture developments in the IndigoWood company went beyond the production of children’s furniture. The modular system for camping is something new in domestic furniture, as far as we know. It includes a folding bed, a pull-out table, seven drawers, two large compartments. Such a complex structure is also made of plywood.
Dmytro said that the production of furniture systems for campsites is an idea of his brother Timothy, who loves to travel, so he knows the needs of campsites. He takes care of this furniture direction – unexpected for a manufacturer of children’s furniture. These modular systems are still in greater demand abroad: the brothers sell them mainly in Poland and Germany, where camping services are better developed, but predict that the adjustments that have begun to make our lives lockdown activate such services for travellers in our country.
