Honoring the outstanding achievements of women designers

Everything that happened last week in Ukraine and the world and that is relevant to the furniture maker, read in our digest:

1. The State Customs Service of Ukraine has launched an online support service (HelpDesk) for businesses in test mode. The system was developed and implemented with the assistance of the EU Public Financial Management Program (EU4PFM).

It is noted that HelpDesk will support all new processes of the State Customs Service, including all new services. The first direction was chosen NCTS-system, which is being introduced in Ukraine to accede to the European Convention on a Common Transit Procedure.

2. Associate Professor of the University of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine Andriy Hmyrin analyzed the course and results of the recent competition for the position of the head of the State Tax Service of Ukraine. According to the expert, in their programs the candidates limited themselves to proposing tactical changes, none of them proposed comprehensive, step-by-step, transformations in the tax sphere. It was not so much the personalities that had to compete in this competition as the strategies for the development of the State Tax Service and its reform programs proposed by them. The victory of the current head of the State Tax Service, Oleksiy Lyubchenko, means that entrepreneurs will continue to face repressive pressure from the tax authorities.

3. The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine simplifies the process of access to information for Ukrainians, said Prime Minister Denis Shmygal. Last week, the Cabinet of Ministers issued a resolution on more than 1,000 sets of open data. Everyone will be able to get acquainted with the real financial condition of companies, with the data of their financial statements, and with the number of tax payments to the state budget.

4. Portability is the biggest advantage of the ten-kilogram numerically controlled Goliath CNC milling machine. It occupies an intermediate position between very small table-top milling machines and traditional high-power machines and machining centers.

Its appearance on the market, without exaggeration, destroyed the idea of woodworkers to work on flat surfaces. Its working range is 3 × 2.5 m without the risk of moving beyond it, although theoretically it can be unlimited and correspond to the size of the workpiece. The user can create or download milling tasks from online project libraries, then upload the image to Goliath and monitor the performance of the work on a computer, smartphone, or tablet.

5. The HIS design community announces that ArtHuss continues to publish a series of design books. The book “Women in Design” is another novelty that is expected this month. Its author is Libby Sellers, a design historian, consultant, and former senior curator at the London Museum of Design.

The book “Women in Design” tells about 21 figures among the most influential designers of the twentieth century, showcasing their best works and honoring their outstanding and often underestimated work.
