Industrialists, entrepreneurs and employers call on the President of Ukraine to discuss the state of affairs in the economy, to agree on a plan of urgent anti-crisis actions

Representatives of powerful structured associations and organizations of industrialists, entrepreneurs and employers of Ukraine, the Anti-Crisis Council of public organizations, large budget-generating industrial enterprises addressed the President of Ukraine on the need to hold a meeting with him in connection with the deepening socio-economic and financial crisis, factors in the industrial complex of Ukraine due to quarantine due to viral infection Covid-19 and adverse changes in world markets.

Dear Vladimir Alexandrovich!

Let us express our respect to you and inform you of the following. Industrialists, entrepreneurs and employers, represented by structured organizations and associations and budget-generating enterprises, are very concerned about the scale and pace of the deepening industrial crisis. Its reasons lie in the lack of a systematic industrial and economic policy. The COVID-19 pandemic and quarantine have significantly exacerbated the negative trends. In April 2020 decline in industrial production in Ukraine compared to April 2019 amounted to 16.2%, in the mining and metallurgical complex – about 30%, mechanical engineering – 19%. In construction, in January-April of the current year, production decreased by 8.7% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. Unemployment reaches 12%. If such indicators do not involve urgent systemic emergency measures, the results of the year can be very difficult.

That is why we offer you, dear Volodymyr Oleksandrovych, to hold a personal meeting with representatives of domestic associations of industrialists, entrepreneurs and employers as soon as possible to thoroughly discuss the state of affairs in the economy and industry, to agree on an urgent anti-crisis action plan.

By joining forces, it is necessary to put an end to the deindustrialization of the country, to form a state strategy for economic, industrial and innovative development and programs to support priority industries, including credit, tax and budgetary spheres. It is necessary to use the mechanisms of modern state protectionism, to support the national producer by all means. It is impossible to allow the economy to fall into the raw material pit (and before the pandemic 72% of exports were raw materials), as this is a way to transform the country into an appendage of developed countries, exporter of raw materials and cheap labor, destruction of technological production, impoverishment and loss of economic sovereignty.

Only a significant step towards the modernization of industry, the construction industry, their entry to a new technological level will ensure the creation of jobs of a new quality, the return of millions of workers to Ukraine, the growth of people’s living standards.

We are convinced that coordination of actions and constant feedback between the President, parliament, government, structured public organizations of industrialists, entrepreneurs and employers and the real sector of the economy will allow us to reach a new level of development of strategies and programs, decision-making that will promote domestic economy and industry.
